Lucifer's Rag-A-Muffin,
Charlie's
Story.
Born
13.04.91 Charlie was to be the first additional member to the Galloway
household. Brenda and I can remember the day we went to see the pups
as if it were yesterday. Charlie was the smallest of a litter of nine
to Tess ( Lucifer's Rag-a-muffin ) and easily recognisable by the big
T shape of white fur on his chestnut coat.
With Charlie being a small pup we thought that's fine
we will have no prob's with him in the house or with the kids who were
soon to come along. Well you can imagine our surprise when after 18
weeks he was weighing in at nearly a stone. I can remember going back
to see the Porters for that visit there were all these little pus
running around in the nice garden then there was Charlie, head and
shoulders above his mum and running around with a slipper in house
mouth, something Charlie would do for the rest of his days.
Spaniels are lets just say a trying dog, He will calm
down after a couple oh years people would say. Crap I would say.
Training was what he needed so that's what he got. Two years or so and
he was going for the Sunday papers. Although in the early days he did
try us. Charlie used to enjoy a trip to the field, a bit of fetch and
carry, flush and chase, all in a days work for the Pride oh fife. He
enjoyed fetching and flushing a bit to much and would chase anything
that moved thinking this was great fun. Cats up the street and even
cats onto the odd roof, trees, walls, doors who cares as long as I'm
chasing I don't care where I go, Usually straight up someone's stairs,
through their hedge or straight into the wall, great fun for Charlie,
a nightmare for me with the neighbours.
Fetching also had it costs with the odd visit to the
vet. Very odd he once decided to chase and then swallow a "golf
ball" and it cost me a £130.00 quid to get it back, Not much
nowadays but back in the early days that was a fortune. We kept the
ball damn right it cost me a fortune.
The stories can come thick and fast and I could sit
here and type all night. The most important thing is that Charlie was
much loved well looked after and will always be in or hearts. We have
started this site in his memory and thought it would be an idea to put
something together for all the other families out there who had that
special furry friend and would like to remember him/her and all the
good times they had together.

Oor Claire's wee story.
"
The Shiver"
Let me tell you a wee story.... I'm sitting upstairs now
looking down on the family who loved me but boy did I know how to play
Brenda. I can remember all the times that Tam used to put me out the back it
would be a perfectly braw day with the sun beating down the right thing to
do,, fresh air and all that. I would sit on the patio for a bit taking in
the rays, then take the wee walk around the garden with the obligatory bark
at the passing dog at ma gate. After what would seem an age to me (5min's
tops) I would saunter back up to the patio doors giving a little scratch and
that look, you know the one, through the baggy eyebrow's. Just hoping to see
the right person in the dining room, one pass, two passes and a third, nae
luck it was him. There was no fooling the gaffer he always new what I would
be up to, so it was another pass around the garden a wee pee on the fence
then bingo Brenda in the room messing with some washing or something. Just
at the right time I would appear at the door and look all sad and give that
shiver, That shiver oh it could be in the 80's outside but one look at
"B" with those eyes and the wee shiver, woosh the patio door was
open and the couch was mine. Cheers "B"
More to come.
